EDUCATION SCHOLARSHIP
PASNWPA is offering a $1,000 education scholarship to help a student from an Erie, Crawford or Warren County, PA high school, charter school or home school who is interested in furthering his or her education in photography.
PLEASE NOTE: The deadline for submission is MAY 23, 2025.
Eligibility
Applicants must meet all of the following criteria to be eligible for this scholarship:
U.S. citizen, permanent resident of the U.S. and a full-time resident who lives in Erie, Crawford or Warren County.
High school senior graduating in 2025 from an Erie, Crawford or Warren County high school, charter school or home school.
Planning to attend a post high school institution full time starting in the fall of 2025 (college, university or trade school).
Has a 2.5 or greater cumulative grade point average. The applicant is required to provide a copy of his or her transcript with this application.
Requirements
Applicant must submit all of the documentation as specified below via the online Education Scholarship Application form.
Completed application which includes:
- Full name, contact information (street address, phone number and email address) and current school,
- College, University or Trade School that the student plans to attend,
- Planned area of study,
- Contact information of the teacher or guidance counselor who is verifying the information provided by the student and submitting a reference letter. (The letter must include the printed name and signature of the teacher or guidance counselor.)Student’s essay of no more than 500 words addressing the following question: What is the impact of artificial intelligence in photography?
A current copy of the student’s transcript.
A 10-image portfolio that is representative of your work. Each image must not be larger than 1500px in width or height with a maximum file size of 500KB. The images may be watermarked if desired.
A reference letter from one of the student’s teachers or guidance counselors. The reference letter must be emailed to: info@pasnwpa.org. It is the responsibility of the student to ensure that the reference letter is sent in a timely fashion.
Timeline
Submissions will be accepted starting on from February 21, 2025. All submissions must be received by the deadline of May 23, 2025.
Once the application form has been submitted, the student will receive an immediate notification by email that the application form has been received.
Selection Criteria
A PASNWPA Scholarship Review Committee will review and score the submitted materials and determine the winner. The winner will be based on the completed application, essay, transcript, reference letter and image portfolio, without regard to financial need and without discrimination as to age, race, sex or creed. The winner will be notified no later than June 6, 2025.
Award Distribution
The award is a one-time, non-renewable scholarship in the amount of $1,000. The check will be made payable directly to the winner or the book store of the school where the student is enrolled and will be earmarked for that student only.

Please note the following:
· Winner’s eligibility will be verified by the selection committee.
· Winner agrees to have his or her name and photo used on the PASNWPA website and any advertising or publications pertaining to the PASNWPA.
· All application submissions will be become the property of PASNWPA and will not be returned.
· Students retain all rights to the images submitted for their portfolio.
· Members of the PASNWPA Board of Directors and their family members are not eligible for this scholarship.
