Dorothy Kloss
Born in Erie, Pennsylvania in 1956, Dorothy Kloss studied music beginning at the age of 5. Devoting most of her life to music, she received her bachelor’s degree from Westminster College, New Wilmington, Pa, in 1979, but found her true passion was in old-school, black and white photography. Although photography was not pursued until later in life, it was deeply embedded in her at a young age by her father, also a photographer, and it is because of him she was able to learn about large format photography and the darkroom. Dorothy also attended workshops in Toronto, Pittsburgh and Rockport Maine, where she was introduced to the world of historical and alternative photographic processes and met many internationally renowned photographers.
Her work has been exhibited locally at the Erie Art Museum’s juried Spring Shows ‘11,’12, ’15-’18, various local galleries and juried exhibits, participated in 4 national juried shows in Texas, has been a member of the Northwestern Pennsylvania Artists Association (NPAA), and has had her work published commercially and received numerous awards.
